‘Matilda, The Musical’ is a hit Broadway show based on a children’s book by Roald Dahl. According to the Playbill synopsis, Matilda is the story of an extraordinary little girl who decides that despite a bad beginning filled with rotten parents, a terrifying school and a vicious head mistress, her story is going to be an astonishing one.

The show opened on Broadway in 2013 and received 12 Tony Award nominations, winning the Tony for Best Book of a Musical, Featured Actor in a Musical, Lighting Design of a Musical, and Scenic Design of a Musical. It lost out in the Best Musical category to “Kinky Boots,” another hit show that is also currently on tour.
