According to a September 28th press release issued by Live Nation, there may be a new performing arts facility constructed on land adjacent to Boston’s Fenway Park, at the corner of Lansdowne and Ipswich.
The venue, referred to in the press release as the “Fenway Theater”, would have a seating capacity of approximately 5,000.
Fenway Theater would be owned by Fenway Sports Group and operated by Fenway Music Company, a partnership between Fenway Sports Management and Crossroads Presents (a LiveNation company).
With a capacity for 5,000 concert-goers, the proposed venue would be significantly smaller than 37,000+ capacity of Fenway Park or TD Garden’s 19,000+ capacity, but right in line with Blue Hills Bank Pavilion, which has capacity for 5,200. The Fenway Theater, though, would have the benefit of being available year-round. House of Blues Boston, which is located just around the corner from the proposed Fenway Theater location, has capacity for 2,500 people.
