Location

Walking distance from the National Mall to The Anthem

With any new venue it takes awhile for people to get used to where it’s located. The southwest waterfront neighborhood of Washington DC, where The Anthem is being built, is primarily residential, although there has always been some commercial development along the waterfront. The Anthem is a component of a new mixed-use waterfront development called The Wharf, which will charge the character of the area. The DC tourism website describes the Southwest Waterfront area as a community in transition.

The portion of the Southwest Waterfront neighborhood where The Anthem will be located is on the Washington Channel of the Anacostia River, a little less than a mile south of the center of the National Mall.

One new hotel, the Intercontinental Washington DC at The Wharf, is being constructed as part of The Wharf development and will be the closest hotel to The Anthem.

Other hotels nearby include the  Hyatt Place Washington DC/National Mall, Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC, and Residence Inn Washington DC/Capital.

The Anthem’s location actually makes it convenient to most downtown DC hotels.  To give you an idea of how close the venue is to the National Mall, The Anthem website lists the venue as being a 20 minute walk from the Washington Monument. The L’Enfant Plaza Metro station is about an 8 minute walk away, so taking the Metro to concerts is certainly an option.
