Filling the Void Created by Demolition of Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre

Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Orange County, California was demolished in November of 2016. Live Nation’s lease on the site expired and the development company that owns the land wanted the space for expansion of an apartment development.

Irvine Meadows was a popular concert venue, serving southern California concert-goers for 35 years. Concert promoters and performers are making changes to address the void created by closure of the venue.

Pacific Symphony, which made Irvine Meadows their summer home for almost 30 years, has relocated their summer concert series to Pacific Amphitheatre in Costa Mesa.

Concert promoter Live Nation received permission from Orange County to construct a temporary amphitheater near Orange County Great Park. The new venue is called FivePoint Amphitheatre after the FivePoint development in which it is located. The venue capacity will be 12,000 seats. Young the Giant and Cold War Kids are scheduled as the first show at FivePoint on August 26th. There’s talk of a permanent amphitheater to be located inside Orange County Great Park at some point in the future.
